Definition of False Teacher: One who presumes to teach in the Name of the Lord when God has not sent him.

False Teacher – Dan Mohler

Dr. Frankenstein and His Creation (Todd White)

How great the deception and seductive powers of Satan! Only through a sold-out love of truth and the death sentence of the cross are God’s elect kept.

“For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will give miraculous signs and wonders in order to seduce, if possible, even the elect. But take heed; behold, I have told you all things beforehand” (Mark 13:22-23 MKJV).

We’ve written about Todd White as a false teacher and have responded to many letters from his followers and admirers. More recently someone brought Todd’s mentor, Dan Mohler, to our attention (see correspondence below).

Dan’s enthusiasm, energy and assurance are impressive. He speaks with great sincerity and conviction. We have no doubt he has had a real spiritual experience – the question is with what, and whom does he represent?

From his website (Neck Ministries):

In 1995 Dan had a transforming encounter with God while at work. Since that time he has gone on to serve as an associate pastor for 8.5 years and now is traveling as an itinerant minister, sharing the transforming power of the gospel in a way that leaves others changed forever.

Is there a technique to “sharing the transforming power of the Gospel,” or is the power of the Gospel in the testimony of the Spirit of Truth coming through human vessels?

“And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, See, do not do it! I am your fellow servant, and of your brothers who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:10 MKJV).

Is the Gospel of Christ a work of man or of God? If it’s men’s work – men get the glory and worship. But when it’s God’s work, Christ gets the glory and worship.

Dan’s technique or way that he claims “leaves others changed forever” is a work of man. Those sent by God to preach His Gospel would never make such a claim, knowing the reality is otherwise.

“For also we have had the Gospel preached, as well as them. But the Word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it” (Hebrews 4:2 MKJV).

Dan’s ministry is about him – his way, his passion, his inspiration and ability to penetrate the hearts of men to move them as he has been moved.

His passionate quest for intimacy with God, has given Dan a powerful revelation on who we truly are in Christ and what our mission is here on earth as believers. His inspirational messages on redemption penetrate the hearts of believers and motivate them to live righteous, compassionate lives. His passion is to see the love of God reverse the effects of sin and sickness in the world and train others to reproduce the works of Jesus in their every day lives.

Sounds wonderful, but those are not the works of Jesus. They are the works of Dan.

Dan’s absolute confidence in Christ’s redemptive power and his ability to walk in humility allow him to minister God’s love in a way that crosses all denominational boundaries. He preaches and lives the pure gospel, and as scripture promises, healings, signs and wonders follow.

It sounds like he is giving Jesus the credit and glory, but truly everything is predicated on Dan. It’s his confidence and his ability to walk in humility that allow “Christ’s redemptive power” and “God’s love” to flow through him. And it will be the same for anyone following Dan, such as with his protégé, Todd White.

“Crossing all denominational boundaries” is also the way of anti-Christ. Christ’s way obliterates denominational boundaries and frees those bound by them, if they believe and obey. Read The Case for Coming Out.

But Dan accepts and honors what the Lord rejects and hates. Dan doesn’t recognize that most people in denominations don’t believe – they haven’t met or known the Lord Jesus Christ at all, which is why they’re in denominations. So when he says, “Our mission is to connect the body of Christ with the head, Jesus Christ,” he’s talking about connecting another body – one composed of tares, worldly believers, to his spirit and mind (head). He’s teaching them to be their own Christs, just as he has experienced through the will of the flesh and power of Satan. He’s able to buy and sell in beastly circles (“crossing all denominational boundaries”) simply because he has the mark of the beast.

Beginning around the 18th minute of Dan’s testimony, he describes where Satan took over his life, empowering him for ministry. Dan’s take is that he received the Spirit of Christ when he made this plea and offer to God:

If you’re really real, and if you really love me and can forgive me for all these things, and have a plan for my life, I’ll live for you.

Dan describes something happening to him right after he said these words, a quick pop after which he was immediately filled with an assurance that the unidentified spirit he was dealing with was real and the deal he offered had been accepted. Dan was ecstatic – he had the love and forgiveness he was after and his life was now this spirit’s.

Thereafter Dan was a completely changed man, but it wasn’t because the Lord Jesus Christ was living in him. He was changed because he was given over to a counterfeit spirit with the essence of False Love – Satan’s Last Stronghold. This same spirit has been passed on to Todd White.

Consider: Wherever do you find Dan declaring the position of Job when God dealt with him?

“I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye has seen You. Therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes” (Job 42:5-6 MKJV).

Or of the publican?

“And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner” (Luke 18:13 KJV).

When the rich young ruler approached the Lord, he came bearing his righteousness. Did the Lord commend or confront him?

Mark 10:17-22 MKJV
(17) And when He had gone out into the way, one came running up and kneeled to Him, and asked Him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
(18) And Jesus said to him, Why do you call Me good? No one is good except one, God.
(19) You know the commandments: Do not commit adultery, do not kill, do not steal, do not bear false witness, do not defraud, honor your father and your mother.
(20) And he answered and said to Him, Teacher, all these I have observed from my youth.
(21) Then Jesus, beholding him, loved him and said to him, One thing you lack. Go, sell whatever you have and give it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in Heaven. And come, take up the cross and follow Me.
(22) And he was sad at that saying and went away grieved, for he had great possessions.

There are many witnesses in Scripture that contradict Dan Mohler’s testimony, as legitimate as it may appear to many.

Where did Dan go wrong? Understand, reader, that it isn’t a technical matter with God that causes one to go into strong delusion. It’s not by asking the wrong way, but by asking with the wrong motive – a matter of the heart. Dan’s heart was set on being someone special, someone loved and accepted. And that’s precisely what he received from the spirit masquerading as Christ. Instead of being born of God, Dan was born of the will of man and the flesh.

With this new birth, Dan was on a mission to spread the spirit he received to others, impassioned by false love. We know this mission wasn’t of God or His Spirit, because God never honors men’s promises to live for Him, as if they were able to serve Him in their corrupt state or by human willpower. What could a sinner coming to a Holy God possibly know about living for Him? In His Presence, how could a sinner possibly suggest they have something to offer Him? Of what use is unbaked clay as a profitable utensil in God’s Kingdom?

When God draws a person to Himself in Christ, it’s because they need Him and not because He needs them. We don’t give our lives to God at repentance – we come to Him in order for Him to take over our lives – something very different. Yes, there will be faith and a positive testimony of Christ, but man offering himself up for service to God is self-righteousness at work, whereas man submitting to the will of God is His righteousness at work in an earthen vessel.

The Lord gives us His life in order for us to be healed, cleansed, and made new. We receive the baptism of His Spirit and fire, which consumes the man of sin – not just the wanton sinner who is without Christ, but the moral and devout “first Christian,” who is full of good works. Man’s righteousness must be put away for Christ’s righteousness to appear – which happens after repentance and receiving His Spirit. For Him to live and reign in us, we must, as believers in faith who are cleansed by His Word, die:

“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20 KJV).

Paul describes this process in Romans 7, but none of that happened with Dan. Satan’s ministers, born of the flesh, are fast tracked into service through the false belief that one has the fullness of the inheritance of Christ without being crucified. Dan and his protege, Todd White, don’t teach this verbally – on the contrary, they’ve mastered Biblical language saying otherwise, but you must believe their fruits and not their claims to have what they manifestly don’t possess. You will not enter the Kingdom by following these men. And this you will only know by taking up the cross yourself. There’s no other way.

The Cross – Only the Death Sentence Will Avail

Here’s the correspondence where we address the error of Todd White and his mentor, Dan Mohler, in both general and specific terms, as we encourage a new believer to put her trust in God rather than in man:

Hello and God Bless!

I recently came across your article on Bill and Todd being false teachers and had a few questions. I’m just a newly saved Christian who is trying to develop skills of discernment in these troubling times and I find myself constantly frustrated as so many people are claiming to be Christian and many are saying different things…

Anyway, I’ve recently been watching a lot of Todd White’s videos and that of his dear friend Dan Mohler (his website is Neck Ministries and I feel it has a better description of the mission statement than Todd’s new website). I’ve found both to be the most effective tools in building my love and faith for Jesus so I’m wondering if perhaps you’ve misunderstood Todd or perhaps in my newbie state I’ve become so misled that I’ve mistaken frost for fire!

When I began watching his and Dan’s videos I was immediately convicted that this whole time I’ve depended way too much on the knowledge of others and not enough on my relationship with God. I’m finally getting more into His word and building my love and faith for Jesus in prayer. I understand there’s a lot of false love doctrine going around that basically says Jesus died so we can sin and live in the flesh and I avoid it like the plague however that is not what Todd teaches. Him and Dan have both cemented in my head the following facts which will be easier for me to demonstrate in bullet points:

-Christianity is #1 a relationship with God, if you don’t have the Holy Spirit in you and haven’t died in your old ways to be reborn in him than you aren’t saved

-God’s love is not permission to sin, but freedom from the desire to sin and live in the flesh

-God’s love is transformation and our fulfillment, under the law we always failed because of our sinful nature however Jesus sacrificed himself so he could take on death and sin and defeat it for us! All we need do is accept the awesome gift and he fills us with the Holy Spirit so we always love and obey God, and live by His standard of righteousness and truth

-Performing miracles is not at all assurance that you’re saved, only your relationship with God is, both Dan and Todd talk about others who perform miracles but are not saved, they warn against using miracles as justification that you are saved and believe that you should be grounded in an intimate relationship with God before attempting miracles to avoid thinking that way

-God loved us while we were yet sinners (not our sin of course) and we need to love other sinners as God loves all of us, God doesn’t want anyone to perish but wishes that all would come to repentance

-We need to spread the message to everyone in love as Jesus did, not condemnation, when Jesus spoke of hell and judgement it wasn’t to condemn but to convict us of our sins that we should desire righteousness and be saved

-Our value is derived from God, he created us in his image and even when we constantly let him down he didn’t condemn us to die in our sin but chose to suffer and lay down his own life so we can be saved and return to our natural God-given state, he loves us so much!!!!! God is awesome 😀

-I understand asking for money can be controversial when you’re a Christian, I’ve heard of a few false teachers who preach for this alone, they’ve got fancy cars, mansions and some even jet planes! However if Todd truly is working for God then the money is all for God’s mission, I think we need to look at what he’s using it for before we come to any rash judgment, Todd constantly says that he has no skeletons in his closet thanks to the Holy Spirit so he shouldn’t be adverse to letting the public know how he appropriates the funding, and I’ve never actually heard him ask for money in any of the videos I’ve watched unlike many others…

These are only a few of the many points I’ve derived from the videos I’ve watched and it’s really strengthened my walk with God! I only just started watching them and praying to God more than ever and I’m discovering the amazing power of Jesus’ love, his love saved me. Even before when I was first learning about Him I was so depressed I wanted to kill myself everyday and probably would have if he didn’t intervene, how blessed we are to have such a Saviour! I love building my relationship with Jesus and I’m currently watching the Harvest Chapel School of Kingdom Living with Dan Mohler as well as reading my bible and praying in order to understand more, I look forward to your response!

Warm Regards,

Karen

Hi Karen,

I’m just a newly saved Christian who is trying to develop skills of discernment in these troubling times and I find myself constantly frustrated as so many people are claiming to be Christian and many are saying different things.

You’ll never be able to sort these things out on your own. But if you walk in the faith of the One and Only True Lord Jesus Christ, He will keep you and you’ll develop discernment in Him:

“But solid food is for the mature, for those because of their practice have their senses trained for the distinguishing of both good and evil” (Hebrews 5:14 EMTV).

It wasn’t a problem for us when we first believed to listen to and read the materials of false teachers without being aware of their spiritual status. By the grace of God, we were after the truth, and therefore could receive truth from false teachers without becoming captives of their error and falsehood. That problem would have arisen had we followed these false teachers and our hearts weren’t after The Truth, the Lord Jesus Christ.

We didn’t realize it at the time, but we were being kept according to the Lord’s warning:

“The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you [that comes from Moses], but not the works they do. For they preach, but do not practice” (Matthew 23:2-3 ESV).

Todd White’s works reflect him. Whether he’s knowledgeable or not about the error on his website, he’s spreading error.

And isn’t it even worse if Todd doesn’t know what’s on his website while it’s supposedly representing the Lord Jesus Christ and His Gospel? How negligent and careless would that be? Letting error remain on a continual basis is more than just a simple oversight – it’s either criminal negligence or blindness.

If Todd doesn’t know he’s teaching error, do you really believe God has sent him in the power and Spirit of Jesus Christ – Who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life? How could that be? It can’t be and isn’t. Todd is preaching “another Jesus.” Whether or not he knows that things contrary to the Lord are on his website, we’re showing everyone conclusively that he’s practicing black magic presented as the faith of Christ, as are his companions and mentors, including Dan Mohler.

“Can two walk together, except they be agreed” (Amos 3:3 KJV).

Here’s the kind of love Todd and Dan are filled with and teaching to others: False Love – Satan’s Last Stronghold.

Now, if watching Dan’s videos convinced you that you were depending on the knowledge of men and not on a relationship with God – wonderful, if by “relationship” you mean faith and obedience. If you’re depending on the Lord, you won’t be following the voice of strangers such as Dan and Todd.

John 10:1-5 MKJV
(1) Truly, truly, I say to you, He who does not enter into the sheepfold by the door, but going up by another way, that one is a thief and a robber.
(2) But he who enters in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
(3) The doorkeeper opens to him, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.
(4) And when he puts forth his own sheep, he goes before them, and the sheep follow him. For they know his voice.
(5) And they will not follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.

You write:

However if Todd truly is working for God then the money is all for God’s mission, I think we need to look at what he’s using it for before we come to any rash judgment….

Todd isn’t working for God, so no matter how scrupulous he is about dedicating the finances to his ministry work, it’s still a work of man promoting the paths of the destroyer:

“Concerning the works of men, by the Words of Your lips, I am kept from the paths of the destroyer” (Psalms 17:4 MKJV).

Todd may never ask for money, and he may give all his goods to feed the poor, but he still isn’t walking in the Spirit or love of God (1 Corinthians 1:13), according to what we’ve written. Read it again very carefully, Karen.

May the Lord keep you from all harm not coming your way, and He certainly will. He is good and just. We receive your blessing in the fellowship of His Spirit….

Paul

Thank you for your kind response, it is very wise and I do take it to heart. I see what you mean about false teachers and what you are saying does make sense, I just feel so lost now that I found Christ because every time I think I find the truth I just find out it’s another lie. I ask God for discernment when I read the bible but I just feel stupid most of the time because I can’t get it right, I don’t know how to listen to what God is trying to say to me. I’m surrounded by non-believers who only give me worldly advice and it’s distorting my understanding. On top of all that I see what’s going on in the world and I feel as though it’s going to end any day now, I have fear for myself and fear for my loved ones who are going about their business as though nothing is happening and when I try to say something I’m ignored or told I’m a zealot/extremist… I want to help but I know I need to build stronger faith or nothing I do will bear good fruit.

I just feel so lost because the hope and joy that’s supposed to be in my heart isn’t there but for a few fleeting moments, then I find out that what I thought I learned was worldly propaganda and I plunge back into sadness. I had so much hope because I felt like God finally was with me and helped me quit smoking cigarettes and marijuana after years of addiction, after listening to Dan Mohler preach I thought I had finally got a grip on what it means to have faith in God, but now that’s another lie… it’s hard not to feel like an eternally lost sheep. Sometimes I just feel like giving up but I know that’s not an option so I’m just stuck in despair, Jesus said his yoke would be easy I just wish it felt that way… I’m definitely going to check out your forum, thank you for the invite I hope that I can finally get a grip and truly lose my life to Jesus without fear. I’m tired of crying all the time, I want to feel joy finally. Thank you for listening to my depressing rant, as you can see I need lots of help.

God Bless,

Karen

Hi Karen,

Listen to what you’re saying:

I just feel so lost now that I found Christ because every time I think I find the truth I just find out it’s another lie.

Jesus Christ IS the Truth!

“Jesus said to him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father but by Me” (John 14:6 MKJV).

Do you believe Him or not? Apparently not.

You say:

I had so much hope because I felt like God finally was with me and helped me quit smoking cigarettes and marijuana after years of addiction, after listening to Dan Mohler preach I thought I had finally got a grip on what it means to have faith in God, but now that’s another lie… it’s hard not to feel like an eternally lost sheep.

So God delivers you from these vices and you don’t believe in Him because of what some man says? How terrible! You need to keep your eyes on, and faith in the One Who delivers and heals you. Stop looking to men.

Does this mean you shouldn’t listen to God’s servants? Not at all, but you won’t recognize and receive God’s servants as long as you’re putting your trust in man. You can only receive God’s servants when you’re believing and worshipping Him. Until then, you won’t tell the difference.

“Believe in the LORD your God, and so you shall be established. Believe His prophets, and so you shall be blessed” (2 Chronicles 20:20 MKJV).

Malachi 3:16 MKJV
(16) Then those fearing [believing on] the LORD spoke together, each man to his neighbor. And the LORD listened and heard. And a book of remembrance was written before Him for those who feared the LORD, and for those esteeming His Name.

Dear Paul,

You are absolutely correct, everything I thought I knew of Jesus was not of Him but of man, everything that has come from my lips regarding what I thought was God has been deception after deception. I had fallen into the lie time and time again that the way of the world and the commandments of men are one in the same with God’s ways even when I thought I believed otherwise. I’ve become more a child of Satan as Jesus was and is nowhere near my heart. The problem is now I don’t know what to do, there’s nothing I can do unless God wants to save me. I’ve been the stubborn mule that tries to do good works without the saving grace of God in me, and as such everything I do is fruitless and must be burned in fire. Am I doomed to this existence? Possibly, I know I deserve it but it’s difficult and unbearable to live in hell even so.

Everything feels and is so hopeless right now without God, the only thing that gives me hope is that Jesus’ victory is greater than all my failures, that His plan for restoration includes a sinful wretch like me and even then it’s hard to believe even that because I deserve to be destroyed eternally… I feel as though I’m stuck in quicksand, stuck in fear and sin, and the only way to go is down, is there any hope for me or will I continue to be deceived?

Karen, you wouldn’t be here pouring out your heart if there wasn’t hope. Those under strong delusion don’t believe they’re deluded and don’t cry out for deliverance. That’s what strong delusion from God does to a person. But He is keeping you from that and is opening His way to you. He, Jesus Christ IS the Way. He is the faithful Physician sent to heal the sick. And aren’t you confessing you’re sick? Therefore believe His promises to those who come to Him confessing themselves unable and unworthy.

“And standing afar off, the tax-collector would not even lift up his eyes to Heaven, but struck on his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner! I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself shall be abased, and he who humbles himself shall be exalted” (Luke 18:13-14 MKJV).

“All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will in no way cast out” (John 6:37 MKJV).

Keep going in His direction and stay away from the false comforts of religion and liars like Todd White and Dan Mohler, who sincerely believe they’re telling the truth. Their way is the hopeless one, but God’s Way is hope itself.

Romans 5:1-10 ESV
(1) Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
(2) Through Him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
(3) Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance,
(4) and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,
(5) and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us.
(6) For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
(7) For one will scarcely die for a righteous person–though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die–
(8) but God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
(9) Since, therefore, we have now been justified by His blood, much more shall we be saved by Him from the wrath of God.
(10) For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by His life.

Read these words over and over, Karen; meditate on the truth. Take things a step at a time. The Lord puts no more than that on you. Here’s what you do:

“Then they said to Him, What shall we do that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said to them, This is the work of God, that you believe on Him Whom He has sent” (John 6:28-29 MKJV).

“Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke on you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and you shall find rest to your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30 MKJV).

Thank you Paul, it’s comforting to know in all this confusion God’s guiding me to truth. I know I have yet a long way to go and I’m always afraid I’ll screw it up because I’m impatient, fearful, cowardly, etc… but he’s the Almighty and growing in faith does mean He’ll put me into shape spiritually so that I do bare good spiritual fruits. I want so badly to be moving in Him 100%, all the time, at least I know He’ll guide me to that point. Maybe that’s why I’ve been confronted with so many lies off the bat, to build endurance and discernment, the Lord works in wonderful and mysterious ways and I can’t wait to learn more about Him.

I read more of your section on Restoration, I’m a slow reader so it’ll take me a while to get through all the material but it made me cry with joy. I had fallen into the lie that hell was an eternal punishment and I have to say it scared me, for myself but mostly for my friends, family and the majority of people in the world because most of them will not find the truth before the end of their physical lives and as wonderful as being in God’s presence would be, I felt as though if would be difficult to enjoy with others painfully burning and screaming for all time. I asked Jesus about this and cried many times because it didn’t feel right in my soul that such a loving God who would lay down His life for us while we were His enemies would leave most people to that fate, I believe He lead me to your website to show me I need only fear Him and not eternal hell. Before I read this I was trying to force God on people out of this fear and of course it wasn’t working, only He can impose Himself on others, His will be done!
