A License to Play God
Cindy Jacobs is intoxicated with the power of speaking affirmatively about what she thinks is her spiritual heritage in Christ. She has found a way that seems right to her, but the end of it is death for her and those who follow her.
“But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence” (1 Timothy 2:12 KJV).
Cindy and Mike Jacobs are a “charismatic Christian” power couple, with Cindy in the lead. Here’s a brief bio on Morningstar Ministries:
“Cindy Jacobs is a respected prophet who travels the world ministering not only to crowds of people, but also to heads of nations. Perhaps her greatest ministry is to world influencers who seek her prophetic advice.
Her first calling is and always will be prophetic intercession. Ever since the Lord called her with the scripture. ‘Ask of Me the nations for your inheritance, and the ends of the world for your possession,’ she has taken that calling seriously… Each year she travels and has spoken on nearly every inhabited continent to tens of thousands.”
But Cindy isn’t operating in the prophetic gifts of the Lord. She is a prophet of another lord known as “Baal,” operating in the power of man, asserting his will as the will of God. Her organization, “Generals International,” proposes to teach you how to hear God’s voice and walk “in the gifts.” This, from her website’s introductory video (https://www.generals.org/home/):
Cindy: “A lot of people will say, ‘Why doesn’t somebody do something about this? Why don’t we mobilize prayer? Why doesn’t somebody act, and get out and change these things that are horrible in the world?’
Well, that’s what Generals do. You know, we pray, we hear the voice of God, and we go out and make dramatic change for good for God’s Kingdom.”
Narrator: “It began thirty years ago with a simple truth: Learning to hear God’s voice will transform your life. And acting on what He says will change the world around you. That conviction became a calling and Generals International was formed.”
Can you be taught to hear God’s voice, as if dialing into the frequency of a radio station? Did Jesus say He came to teach people to hear God’s voice? No, He said this:
“Pilate then said to Him, Are you a king then? Jesus answered, You say it that I am a king. To this end I was born, and for this cause I came into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice” (John 18:37 MKJV).
A child will naturally learn to recognize his father’s voice. And therein lies the distinguishing critical factor not recognized by Cindy Jacobs or other false prophets – one must be of God to hear and honor His voice:
“He who is of God hears God’s Words. Therefore you do not hear them because you are not of God” (John 8:47 MKJV).
Jacobs’ website puts out this call to the general public:
“We invite you to join our community of Generals, a place where we offer a solid foundation on which to build your faith and spiritual gifts. As we walk together through daily life, we want you to realize your identity and do extraordinary things that will ultimately fulfill the will of God in the nations.”
There is no “if God wills, we will do so and so” or question about whether one is called by and recognizes Him in the first place. Anyone can join in. And truly, anyone can be joined to God, but it must be through Christ and the cross, of which there is no mention on Generals International.
The cross is the single defining factor that separates the works of men from the work of God, because when one hears the truth and walks in it, there comes separation from the world – death to self.
It’s the cross that draws all men to Christ, because the crucifixion is followed by the resurrection:
“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all to Myself. But He said this, signifying what kind of death He was about to die” (John 12:32-33 MKJV).
The only way the life of Christ can be made manifest, “lifted up from the earth,” drawing the nations to God and establishing His Kingdom on earth, is through the cross.
“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ lives in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me, and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20 KJV).
Jesus Christ is represented by the Tree of Life, which can only be accessed through the flaming sword, the cross. But Satan tempted Eve with the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and here we have a woman, Cindy Jacobs, using that knowledge for personal spiritual power, teaching others to do the same:
“With a library comprised of hundreds of hours of sermons, God Knows television episodes (hosted by Mike and Cindy), and articles, GI is a source for solid, Bible-based training on prayer and the prophetic. Our hope is that our teaching will help you become spiritually courageous and powerfully informed about the things of God.
“We make these resources available because we believe God has given every person a sphere of influence, meaning you have been empowered by God to make your world better. We aim to provide you with tools that will awaken your purpose and enable you to be a General wherever God has placed you.”
It sounds good because it comes from the knowledge of good. We know it’s a good thing to help people and to influence others to make the world a better place. But how? There needs to be wisdom in application and pureness of motive to bring in the best, that which isn’t corrupted or corruptible, the Kingdom of God. That’s not something we naturally possess or can achieve with any amount of study or experience.
We need the General of the Armies of God, Jesus Christ, the Head of the Body, His church, to give each of us what to do and be. We can’t be our own generals. Whenever that happens, tragic results follow:
“In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did what seemed right to him” (Judges 21:25 BBE).
A sure sign of Satan’s works is the solicitation of funds to do “the work of God.” Here’s something you never see with the Lord or His apostles in the Scriptures (and He hasn’t changed):
“Partnership is a regular financial commitment to Generals International. Your partnership with us empowers Mike, Cindy, and Generals International to continue to train you and people around the world to hear God’s voice and how to act on it.”
“We are driven by seeing lives changed and nations transformed, and we know that we can’t do it alone. That’s why we are asking for you to partner with us.”
“Your monthly financial partnership makes it possible for us to continue changing lives and transforming nations through prayer initiatives, live events, online resources, and our God Knows program. None of this would be possible without you.”
A ministry of God is never dependent on men. Yes, people will give to the work of God, but His workers and the work goes by faith, depending on Him and not looking to or asking of men.
“And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse” (Mark 6:8 KJV).
And there’s the example of Paul, in contrast to Generals International and so many other similar works of men, which have online stores selling their spiritual wares:
“For, brothers, you remember our labor and toil. For laboring night and day in order not to put a burden on any one of you, we preached the Gospel of God to you” (1 Thessalonians 2:9 MKJV).

(7) For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us. For we did not behave ourselves disorderly among you,
(8) neither did we eat any man’s bread freely, but we worked with labor and travail night and day, so that we might not be heavy on any of you
(9) (not because we do not have authority, but to make ourselves an example to you, to imitate us).
Does it sound like Paul was selling his writings to the church?

Here’s the kind of witchcraft you support when donating to Generals International, a vision and prophecy from Cindy Jacobs:
As I was praying, I saw this vision, and it was of roadblocks.
It’s like everywhere you went, there were these blockages. You could not get through. And I see the Lord saying there is a spirit of delay. Now that’s an unusual thing, but that’s what I’m getting. There is a spirit of delay that is stopping you from getting where you need to go.
And some of you, I see, not only is it delay, but I see what we call an occult spirit. Now the word “occult” means “hidden” or “hiding.” And many people don’t understand how this operates in a person’s life. An occult spirit will hide the way to go.
Many people have said to me recently, “There feels like there’s so much witchcraft right now, so much opposition,” and this is true. And how it’s working is bringing delay in your life, delay from getting to where you need to go. It’s frustrating you. And the other thing is there is seemingly like an occult spirit. And what I see how this works is it’s bringing you confusion. You’re not able to think straight, and not only that, you’re not able to see the way to go. So, first, bind that occult spirit in the name of Jesus, that spirit of witchcraft that is stopping you from seeing the way to go.
And right now, I ask the Holy Spirit just to begin to breathe upon you, to begin to blow upon you, that what is stopping your vision will dissipate in the name of Jesus. And I bind the spirit of delay, and we say there will be no more delay. There’s some of you that you’ve been waiting a long time for certain things to manifest in your life. And this is what I say, “Don’t be in clear detente with the enemy.” And don’t say, “Well, I’m just going to give up on that.” Because God is giving you vision in your heart, God is giving you a plan, God is giving you a Jeremiah 20:9 purpose. He has plans for you.
So don’t let the enemy’s delay cause you to be discouraged and downhearted because of that occult spirit. I just felt something really break over you; that occult spirit is being broken. The roadblocks are going to be taken away. You’re gonna see your way ahead. And where you didn’t know what to do, you’re gonna have a spirit of wisdom and revelation, and you’re gonna know the way to go.

If there is delay from the Lord, then it’s for a good reason. Coming against His delay, especially invoking His Spirit, is foolishness if not outright sin and rebellion.
If you’re facing something you don’t know what to do about (if you lack wisdom), ask God:
James 1:5-8 MKJV
(5) But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, Who gives to all liberally and with no reproach, and it shall be given to him.
(6) But let him ask in faith, doubting nothing. For he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed.
(7) For do not let that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord;
(8) he is a double-minded man, not dependable in all his ways.
If sin is holding you up, repent.
But I say these things to believers, because there must be faith from God to believe and receive from Him. Cindy broadcasts a one-size-fits-all message of receiving whatever is in your heart, whether it comes from God or not, to whoever reads it, wheat or tare. It’s a spiritual fortune cookie message of empowerment, giving people the license to believe they’ll receive whatever they want in the Name of Christ. That makes it witchcraft of the worst sort.
There’s more of witchcraft in this video of Cindy on the Jim Bakker show. Cindy recounts how the Lord said to her, “Basta!” as she was on her way to speak to a large Latino church in Miami. She asked her Hispanic driver what the word meant and he said, “Fed up, no more, enough!”
Cindy goes on to teach everyone how to use the word: “When the enemy comes in like a flood, what you do is say, ‘BASTA! I have a word!’”
So now, if you’re finding opposition – maybe something you deserve or need from God – you can shut it down by saying, “BASTA!”
Jim Bakker, for example, has financial challenges in his religious work and health issues. Cindy says of the latter, “It is demonic weariness,” and shouts “BASTA!” Meanwhile, the sales advertisement scrolling on the bottom of the screen, trying to raise money for a new studio, is hawking Mac and Cheese Kits. If Jim is selling such non-organic processed junk food, is he also eating it? How about saying “Basta!” to all of that?
Cindy invokes the word again against Satan – “You’re not stopping what God wants to do through Jim Bakker,” but Jim is already doing the Destroyer’s work and the answer is he needs to repent.
