Trousers, Jewelry, or Weavons for Women?

Hello, I am new to your site. I have been praying that the Lord expose any false doctrines that I have come into. Your site seems to do just that. There are prophets speaking that women should not wear pants or put certain things in their hair that would disturb the balance the creator gave our natural appearance. What is your opinion on this? I have really been stumbling over this matter. Someone said the Lord said women will begin to perish b/c they have allowed worldliness to overtake their hearts.

Hi Nadia,

Whoever said this was right:

“Someone said the Lord said women will begin to perish b/c they have allowed worldliness to overtake their hearts.”

It reminds me of the Scripture: “But she who is self-indulgent is dead even while she lives” (1 Timothy 5:6 ESV).

Of course, this applies to men as well.

“Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever, then, purposes to be a friend of the world is put down as hostile to God” (James 4:4 LITV).

But these Scriptures are speaking to true believers, whereas many you may think of as God’s people are simply religious and have never known Him or escaped the world in the first place, no matter how pious or severe their practices may appear. We’ve met women who wore long dresses and used head coverings, shunning many worldly things, yet the world was firmly entrenched in their hearts. You can’t go by appearances.

“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” (John 7:24 EMTV).

Victor wrote to someone else regarding the same questions you’ve raised in your email, so I’m copying the inquiry followed by his reply here (it covers more ground, which may be of interest and help to you):

I would like to know if it is sin for a girl to wear trousers and if it is also a sin for a girl to fix weavons, attachment or wear wigs. A deeper life friend of mine told me I would Go to hell if I don’t stop all these…I felt hurt by that statement. But at the time, I refuted him. However , I want to get it straight once and for all. So please is it really a sin for one to wear jewelry no matter how simple they are?

Also with all those preachers listed as false prophets on your site, what church is left for us to attend? Or shouldn’t we attend church again?

I came across a book by the Seventh Day Adventist Church, only to discover that they don’t believe in hell. But I know there is hell.

Another question is, do true christians struggle to be holy? I look @ my walk with Christ & I see a lot of ups and downs. I can’t help but think am not being consistent and it bothers me. I want to know if it is like this with all christians. But 1 Thessalonians 5:24, He who calls you will do it, because he is faithful. Amen.

I would also appreciate some sound advice on how to be holy and how to follow Jesus.

Looking forward to your reply, God willing. Thanks a lot.

Hi T,

If your report is accurate, your friend is wrong, apparently assuming we find favor with God by keeping laws. God’s grace and gift of life don’t work that way at all.

That said, when we walk by faith and keep His commandments, He does give us wisdom to do good and right things. Concerning what to wear as one professing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, you should know what Peter says:

“Of whom let not be the adorning of garments, or outward braiding of hair and wearing of gold, or of putting on clothing, but let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, the meek and quiet spirit, which is of great price in the sight of God” (1 Peter 3:3-4 MKJV).

As far as general clothing is concerned, women ought to plainly look like women and men like men, both dressing modestly in the sight of God and man. No showing off, no sexually lustful attractions, not sloppy or unkempt, but orderly, practical, and clean.

Using weaves is usually a matter of one of two things: an alternative to dealing with difficult hair, which is a reflection of your attitude toward how God made you, and vanity, a matter of artificial beauty and pride. It’s not an act of thankfulness for the way you are, is it? Besides, we’re told weaves are damaging to your natural hair. So when you’re dissatisfied with the way the Lord does things, you destroy. And you know who the destroyer is, don’t you? Of course, if you’re bald, different story; it’s a matter of motive and attitude. God knows your heart.

People who live in pride and vanity are not going to Hell for it; they live in pride and vanity because they ARE in Hell. That’s what Hell is all about – unreality, pretense, pride, darkness, fear, and powerlessness, all because of lack of knowledge of the Lord.

There’s no problem with gracing your body with pleasant, modest, nonreligious jewelry, but there may be a problem of why you do it. Is it to show off? Is it vanity and pride, or is it an honest gesture of simply wanting to be pleasant for the good of all? It’s a matter of attitude. In all of these things, T, where’s the Lord?

The problem in the world of churches is that they are churches of the world and not of God. That is especially true of the large mega churches full of entertainment and showmanship – day time night clubs without physical, but plenty of spiritual, alcohol. It’s true of those who pervert the Scriptures and preach another Jesus and gospel. Those are all the things Satan savors. Why would you want to tangle with the deceiver and murderer? We know of no decent churches out there.

The answer? The Lord Jesus Christ. He calls us to forsake all and step outside the works of men (religion and formal church organizations) – the paths of the destroyer (Psalm 17:4). If we will be His, we need to walk by faith, worshipping Him in spirit and in truth, obeying His commandments.

If you will please the Lord, T, you need to go straight to the Lord in prayer and prepare yourself to take up the cross (read The Cross – Only the Death Sentence Will Avail). Read Diabolical Doctrines and The True Marks of a Cult.

The Seventh Day Adventists are full of error. Read our section, Seventh Day Adventism.

Do you want to walk with the Lord in holiness? Holiness isn’t about what you wear or do, though those will be affected by your relationship to God. It’s about who you are in the Lord. Walking by faith is holiness. It’s the only way to live and the only way we’ll ever see Him, as the Scriptures plainly declare.

“Follow peace with all, and holiness, without which no one shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14 MKJV).

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen” (Hebrews 11:1 MKJV).

Holiness is a matter of faith and obedience. Abraham was holy not because of what he wore but because he believed God and obeyed. So with all his children.
