False Teacher – Bill Wiese

23 Minutes in Hell

Bill Wiese’s ministry ( is built around a vision he claims to have had in 1998, when Lord woke him in the middle of the night and took him on a 23-minute tour of hell. It wasn’t of God.

The story and claims Bill makes are covered in the following review of another tale similar to his: Baxter, MaryA Divine Revelation of Hell Debunked: An Outstanding Illustration of Orthodox Christianity’s Most Blasphemous Doctrine

When Bill supposedly asked the Lord why he was sent to experience the horrors of hell, here’s the answer he said he was given:

“Because people do not believe this place exists. Even some of My Own people don’t believe this place is real. Go tell them that I hate this place. That it’s not My desire for one of My creation to go to this place – not one. I never made this for man. This was made for the Devil and his angels. You have to go and tell them. I’ve given you a mouth. You go and tell them.”

Mary Baxter, at an earlier date, reported similar words coming from her “Jesus”:

“The world must know about the reality of hell. Many sinners and even some of My people do not believe that hell is real. You have been chosen by Me to reveal these truths to them. Everything I will show you about hell and all the other things I will show you are true.”

Is this a case of confirmation or copycatting? Does belief that Hell and the Lake of Fire (two separate things) exist cause anyone to love God (see Baxter paper)?

And what in His creation has God not made to serve His good and holy purposes, even with all of mankind?

“The LORD has made all things for Himself: yea, even the wicked for the day of evil” (Proverbs 16:4 KJV).

“Behold, I have created the smith who blows the coals in the fire, and who brings out a tool for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy” (Isaiah 54:16 MKJV).

If the god Wiese alleges to have encountered isn’t in complete control over all things, then he isn’t the God of the Scriptures.

Isaiah 45:5-7 MKJV

(5)  I am the LORD, and there is none else, no God besides Me; I clothed you, though you have not known Me;
(6)  that they may know from the rising of the sun, and to the sunset, that there is none besides Me. I am the LORD, and there is none else;
(7)  forming the light and creating darkness; making peace and creating evil. I the LORD do all these things.

As good and noble as his mission statement might sound, Wiese promotes man’s sovereignty, not God’s:

“Soul Choice Ministries exists to help people make an informed decision regarding their eternity and to experience the life-changing power of God’s Word.”

Man doesn’t determine his own eternal fate. That has been determined from the beginning through Jesus Christ (The Good News), Lord and Savior of all men.

Coming to God isn’t the same as buying a car. It doesn’t happen by research, or even by man’s will and initiation:

“No one can come to Me unless the Father Who has sent Me draw him, and I will raise him up at the last day” (John 6:44 MKJV).

“Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:13 KJV).

If the decision were left up to man to enter the Kingdom of God, no man would or could ever enter.

“And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon” (Revelation 5:2-3 KJV).

Could “Soul Choice Ministries” have helped Judas make an “informed decision”?

Wiese says, “Without Christ you are going to hell,” but the truth is, without Christ, you are in hell. Read, The State and Fate of Hell.

  1. Bill Wiese tells you he had a vision of hell for 23 minutes when God took his spirit from his physical body and he went to hell. According to the Bible, being taken from your body by spirit and placed somewhere is not a vision but would be death. A vision is something you experience in your own physical body and in your own mind that God allows you to see like the dreams of Joseph concerning his wife Mary to accept Jesus as God’s child. Since his experience, Bill Wiese wrote a book about his experience and selling it while running around in many churches warning many about his experience (note: when Bill speaks anywhere from a pulpit, he never has a bible placed in front of him like all other ministers) But the sad part about him now is he is becoming somewhat of a know-it-all about the bible, about God, Satan & demons, and salvation and so many other topics he really doesn’t know anything about, and yet, he gets Christian people to believe his con story. If you ever try to talk to him on any topic of biblical nature, he always has an answer and he argues how right he is. This man needs to be exposed as the fraud and hoax that he is.

  2. It doesn’t take an Einstein to view his various videos over time and see how the story changes from when first told and later versions. Even his wife can’t keep the story straight in her mind. Believe what you want, but I follow my saviors command in Matthew 24, “take heed that no man deceive you”.
    This is scripture being fulfilled… “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.” 2 Peter 2:3
    In other words, lets make some money off of Christians by making up a story that we can sell as a book and change fees to go to churches and tell it to the congregations. First the book 23 minutes in hell, then another book 23 questions, then a Christian movie, Believers need more discernment and testing of spirits.
    A dream or vision does not mean it is the truth, even Satan comes or can transform himself as an angel of light to bamboozle those who are careless and snooker them into believing that which is false.

    1. I would becareful of throwing stones at a man of God you know nothing about. Bill traveled for 7 years at his OWN expense telling of what happened to him and never took a dime from churches! He was a wealthy real estate broker who now is worth far less because of his calling ..not more! He quotes from memory over 100 bible verses proving what happened to him. I have personally heard his testimony over 7x and it has never changed. Sometimes depending on how much time he has he will share more of what happened or less. He is one of the most humble, God fearing and loving and honest men you will ever meet. This whole website is a shame and terrible that people attack men of God they dont know. I know Bill and Annette very well after so many years of seeing them in ministry and they have help lead over 1 million people to the Lord… What have you done?!

  3. It’s amazing what happens in Christianity and among Christians. I am also a Christian, an orthodox. I have seen it happen in other religions too but it is more common in Christianity. One Christian wants to pull out the eye of the other Christian and to prove that he is the good and righteous Christian while the other is the false one. I am not trying to defend Mr. Wiese, or anyone. I do not know him. But what I do know is that you can not share any knowledge or idea for free, simply because printing a book (any book) has a cost. Go to a publisher to print a book of your own and ask for a quote, say for 1000 books and you will see that it is thousands of dollars. I do not see why it is bad to ask for the money it costs to print. Unless you’re Bill Gates. On the other hand, constantly criticizing others is free and easy. But let me remind you… since you are Christians, that this is not our job.

  4. Just because you have never had a supernatural encounter does not give you the right to malign Bill Weiss. He is a good honest Christian believer, and would not make this stuff up. Shame on you and your stupid “so called ministry”! Everything that he said in his experience matches up with scripture. Why would he lie? I believe his story and you should too. Maybe you dont see it, but satan is using you to try and make people doubt, and give them a false sense of security, and “blow it off” and not Fear God! You should repent, and recant your words and tell Bill Weiss and God you are sorry, or you just might end up in Hell!

  5. Amen, ggalanos and Rick Barton. My husband and I do know Bill Wiese personally. We attended the same Church Assembly for a couple of years when he was still working as a Real Estate Agent and a Property Manager.

    My husband did some work for him, so he also knew him as an employer as well as a friend and brother-in-Christ. We heard his testimony first-hand, approximately 4 years before he published his first book! By the way, the publishing house approached him about writing the book, he didn’t do this on his own.

    This site as well as others are contrary to God and His Kingdom. They are not operating according to His Royal Law, in short, treat others the way you want to be treated!

  6. Amen! Well said, CH.
