Subject: Sat as the sabbath
One day you find yourself unconscious and marooned on an island. You have no idea how long you have been unconscious. As a believer you want to honor God by keeping the Sabbath so you follow His instruction by working 6 days and resting the 7th. Thirty years go by, and you are rescued. It happens to be your sabbath day. You ask your rescuer what day it is, they tell you it is Wednesday. My question to you, is do you keep your Wednesday sabbath that you have given The Lord for the last 30 years, or do you conform to the worlds calendar, and switch to Saturday?

Hi Rene,
Regarding your hypothetical scenario about being marooned on an island with no other people for thirty years, we don’t keep the Sabbath as a sacrifice or something we give to the Lord. The Sabbath is His gift to us:
“And He said to them, ‘The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath’” (Mark 2:27 ESV).
Now if, as your hypothetical scenario goes, the Lord has removed one from the society of men and His Sabbath, then there is a greater corrective work He is doing in that soul, which is what matters. And if that soul is submitted to Him at the end of this separation, then it will rejoice in the Lord, receiving His Sabbath with thanksgiving, not regretting but celebrating His correction.
He will have received the Sabbath within, which is what the True Sabbath is all about – rest in Him.
As for gathering with “like-minded believers,” what kind of believer are you, Rene? Tell us more about your spiritual journey and present stance with the Lord Jesus Christ. What are you looking for?
