Definition of False Teacher: One
who presumes to teach in the Name of the Lord when God has not sent
him.
Walter Veith - Eat the Good; Discern
the Bad
We received this letter from a friend:
Hi everyone,
SDA does get the Sabbath correct. On the whole I feel this is a good
lecture. We are to honor and worship the truth and the source of the
truth, Jesus. Do not worship the messenger, in this case SDA church.
Videos 101-106 are also quite good which deal with God’s creation.
Walter has come across some Seventh Day Adventist material that he
sent to all, and I welcome the opportunity to give you some instruction
on it.
For a few specifics, as I got about 15 minutes into the first video, “Dr.” Walter
Veith describes Isaiah 14 as being about Satan’s rebellion against
God, but if you read that chapter, you will find nothing about Satan;
it is about Lucifer, the King of Babylon - a man. Walter Veith refers
to Lucifer, an angel, but Isaiah does not speak about a heavenly angel.
Veith goes on to speculate as to Satan’s person, work, relationship
to God, and evil intent, none of which Isaiah talks about. Most of
Veith’s teaching is opinion and conjecture.
He makes statements that are presumptive, suggestive, and speculative,
with no substance for them. For another example, around minute 17:50
or so, he asks (paraphrased), “Did God create
mankind to replace the angels who sinned?”
The SDAs are into much speculation on the end times especially, but
on many other matters, such as Michael the Archangel being Jesus Christ,
which is not true.
This peculiarity with them is in keeping with Ellen G. White, their
revered prophetess (false, by the way) who speculated on many things,
as well as provably plagiarized much in her abundant writings. The
SDAs also speculate and assert that Sunday-keeping is the mark of the
beast, the RCC being that beast. Is there Scriptural foundation for
it? Not that we are aware, and certainly the Lord has not told us so.
(He has told us otherwise – read The
Mark of the Beast & the
Seal of God.)
The SDAs are not afraid to put forth opinion as revelation and fact.
Is that a problem? Yes, it is - big time - and know it or not, much,
if not all, of our suffering and hardship has resulted from man’s
opinion (read Opinion). How much more unnecessary suffering would you
like?
The SDAs are big on images, particularly of Jesus (indeed, many evangelicals
use an SDA artist’s popular portrayal - handsomeness, long hair
and all, for their materials) – you’ll see a huge portrait
of “Jesus” in the stage background, breaking the Second
Commandment (read Religious
Images, Icons, and Likenesses). Meanwhile,
they pride themselves on the Fourth Commandment, which also they do
not keep.
More information on the SDAs is available at Seventh
Day Adventism.
Read, learn, and beware. No, Walter, SDA does not “get the Sabbath
correct,” not at all, nor much else for that matter, not that
it is about doctrine anyway. As Jesus warned His disciples, so we warn
you: “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees.”
Veith’s teaching is Tree of Knowledge fruit, with no anointing
whatsoever from the Lord. His spirit reminds me of other SDA teachers,
such as Doug Batchelor; his way is presentable and appealing, his inspiration
intellectual, of the carnal man, which is at enmity with God:
Romans 8:5-8 MKJV
(5) For they who are according to the flesh mind the things of flesh,
but they who are according to the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
(6) For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded
is life and peace
(7) because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject
to the Law of God, neither indeed can it be.
(8) So then they who are in the flesh cannot please God.
Certainly these teachers are attractive to the carnal eye and ear.
Putting it in Veith’s terms, his inspiration is “Luciferian.” Not
having the Spirit of God, one won’t see or know that. We do,
and we warn.
Veith draws up a scenario of jealousy in Lucifer towards Jesus Who
is being worshipped by the angels, thinking, “What’s this?
Why should He be worshipped? I’m His equal in every way....” Veith
speaks of Satan as once having been clean, but what does Jesus say
of him?
“You are of the Devil as father, and the lusts of your father
you will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and did not abide
in the truth because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie,
he speaks of his own, for he is a liar and the father of it” (John
8:44 MKJV).
See also Genesis 3:1.
Veith goes on to say that God saw Lucifer’s attitude and decided
to create man to head off the coming
crisis in Heaven with jealous angels. The man spouts carnal
knowledge. While it can be imaginative, entertaining, and sensational
(appealing to the senses),
it is not revelation and it is not glorifying to the Lord Jesus Christ
at all.
So, Walter, when you say, “We are to honor
the truth and the source of the truth, Jesus,” how are
we honoring Him by honoring someone who is not honoring Him and listening
to speculations and presentations
that are, in all essence and spirit, antiChrist?
The teacher is prideful,
wise in his own eyes, there to glorify his person of knowledge
and “spiritual
depth of understanding.” He,
a man, comes in that very Luciferian spirit, the power of the flesh,
having the mark of the beast in his manner of speech. Does anyone
see that? Is this the food God has prepared for us? For you?
And
do the SDAs get the Sabbath right? In what manner? Can you say,
Walter? How can the SDAs get the meat of the matter right,
when they
don’t have the Sabbath within and do not know the Lord
of the Sabbath? If they did get the Sabbath right, they would
not
be doing
the works of men that destroy, laboring 24/7 in
all iniquity.
While we can learn from any source, if we are in
a victorious position in the first place to do so, need we
touch the unclean
thing, feeding
from the Tree of Knowledge and flirting with the harlot, or
can we trust God to feed us in all wholesomeness? One need not go
so far
as to worship a harlot to be defiled with her, or worship an
unclean thing to touch it and be defiled.
Let me put it another way: While some people have been able to feed
from city garbage bins and even discover some valuable things in them
on rare occasions, it is not appropriate and does not profit most people
to obtain their sustenance there, especially those people who have
the fortune of living in higher levels of society.
Now, if you aspire to be a child of God, which is the highest level
of existence for any person, and He has provided you with a veritable
banquet of all good things, as He deems necessary for the time, why
would you choose to rummage back alleys for scraps, as you do? Have
you not eaten at God’s banqueting table at The Path of Truth to discern the difference between good organic food and polluted, death-dealing
scraps? Have you not eaten our butter and honey to know good and evil?
“Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the
evil, and choose the good” (Isaiah 7:15 KJV).
Do you think it really fruitful to rummage through tons of garbage
to retrieve edible tidbits, if indeed those are there at all?
Walter, you say, “Do not worship the messenger,” but “not worshipping” is hardly sufficient:
2 John 1:8-11 MKJV
(8) Look to yourselves, so that we may not lose those things which
we worked out, but that we may receive a full reward.
(9) Everyone transgressing and not abiding in the doctrine of Christ
does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has
both the Father and the Son.
(10) If anyone comes to you and does not bring this doctrine, do not
receive him into your house, nor speak a greeting to him.
(11) For he who speaks a greeting to him is partaker of his evil deeds.
Should you choose to honor and worship the Lord Jesus Christ, you
will not honor false teachers, much less refer others to them, lest
they be defiled, deceived, confounded, and snared, especially when
the Lord has already provided you with far better.
That said, we can’t shelter you from everything, and we have
said that occasions of error, such as this one, offer a backdrop for
the truth. The Scriptures teach the value of such occasions:
“For there must be also heresies among you, that they which
are approved may be made manifest among you” (1 Corinthians 11:19
KJV).
Am I being possessive or dominating here, or am I warning you of such
that the apostles warned their flocks about? Are we manipulating you,
or do we “watch for your souls, as they that must give account”?
You decide.
Veith says that God has raised up sons to silence the mouth of the
enemy:
“From the lips of babes and infants You have established strength,
because of Your adversaries, that You might silence the enemy and the
avenger” (Psalms 8:2 HNV).
Little does Veith know that he stands as an enemy of the saints. We
speak to silence the enemy’s mouth, that he might not destroy
you with his dainties and vain philosophies.
Victor
Paul’s reply:
Hi everyone,
“Amen” to all Victor wrote. How good to be fed butter
and honey!
And what is this business of calling Lucifer “Satan,” the
good angel gone bad story? It is scapegoating, pure and simple, shifting
focus from the real culprit – man - to the devil.
After all, as Victor pointed out from the Scripture, God created Satan
as a liar and murderer, the most subtle of all beasts. But He did not
make man that way:
“Behold, this only have I found: that God made man upright;
but they search for many schemes” (Ecclesiastes 7:29 HNV).
Satan wasn’t tempted and deceived. Eve was, and Adam followed
her. Now mankind searches for many schemes, like this very one Veith
and so many others preach, co-blaming Satan rather than taking 100%
responsibility for itself.
Veith says, “Sin is to blame,” but he immediately follows
with, “Satan is to blame.” Anything less than total acceptance
and confession of culpability is a denial of Jesus Christ and His righteous
judgment. It is actually far worse to split the blame than to be as
the heathen who outright rejects sin-guiltiness, because the former
is dishonest and deceptive, appearing contrite while using the devil
as an excuse to be justified as a sinner. The sin therefore remains,
while the sinner now appears as an angel of light.
Show us one place in the Scriptures where the Lord or any prophet
of God blamed Satan for a person’s sin or sins. You can’t,
because it isn’t there.
Think about this: Do men savor the things of Satan, or does Satan
savor the things of men? It is the latter:
“But when He had turned and saw His disciples, He rebuked Peter,
saying, ‘Get behind Me, Satan! For you are not mindful of the
things of God, but the things of men’” (Mark 8:33 EMTV).
Satan was created to serve men in their lusts, but men were not created
to serve Satan. He only became our ruler because we chose to serve
ourselves. Otherwise, the devil has no power over us, if we serve God:
“Do you not know that to whom you yield yourselves as slaves
for obedience, you are slaves to him whom you obey; whether it is of
sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness” (Romans 6:16
MKJV).
In other words, we are in the driver’s seat and are held responsible
for running the red light.
Veith has externalized the enemy, not recognizing that the man of
sin, the antiChrist, is within. That is because he has yet to be delivered
from his own corruption, to be born again by the Spirit of Christ and
victorious over sin by the new nature within. Veith is walking in his
own righteousness, with “keeping the Sabbath” and other
doctrines convincing him he is right and acceptable to God. He is brother
to the Pharisees and all persecutors of the Lord.
Veith often speaks about having free will, the power to do God’s
will because he chooses to want to, and he also refers to those who
will be spared at Christ’s coming because they choose to be set
free. This is all the man of sin in delusion speaking about his power
to do right and to be as God.
No, Walter, this is the very opposite of “getting it correct” on
the Sabbath. It is men’s works all the way, the paths of the
destroyer, utterly vile and hateful to God and His saints.
In the mid 90’s a woman who was SDA tried to convince us about
the Sabbath. But we saw that her life was not right before the Lord,
and that her Sabbath-keeping was not legitimate or acceptable to Him.
By the grace of God, we did not follow her lifeless form of religion,
thereby becoming lifeless ourselves, but Victor had words of truth
and correction for her and her friends.
Just as there is another “Jesus,” so
there is another “Sabbath,” manmade
and deadly all the same.
