Meandering Without the Shepherd

Subject: On Church Attendance

I came across your website this evening and I am intrigued.  I haven’t read all that I want to read as yet, but, I will meander through it.

I read your article regarding salvation.  I scanned the “false doctrines” articles.

Here’s my question.  I do not attend church regularly.  It is in my heart to do that so as to not avoid gathering with other like minded believers.  Unfortunately every church in my area either teaches eternal torment for the unbelieving or the church is liberal and accepts just about anything as doctrine.

I’m not looking for advice, but I would like your opinion.

Thank you,

Jim

Hi Jim,

Do sheep select their own pastures, food, and companions, or do their shepherds guide and manage them? If Jesus Christ is your Shepherd, then you can be certain He is leading you where you need to be, step by step, everything in its place and time.

“God sets the solitary in families: He brings out those which are bound with chains…”

But if you’re doing your own thing in His Name, then “the rebellious dwell in a dry land” (Psalms 68:6 KJV). Even though that land is populated by many and apparently prosperous.

“Righteous are You, O LORD, when I complain to You; yet I would plead my case before You. Why does the way of the wicked prosper? Why do all who are treacherous thrive? You plant them, and they take root; they grow and produce fruit; You are near in their mouth and far from their heart” (Jeremiah 12:1-2 ESV).

“Go in through the narrow gate, for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and many there are who go in through it” (Matthew 7:13 MKJV).

Giving you not opinion, but the Word of God, which isn’t just advice – it’s His commandments with sure promise.

Confusion About Divorce and Adultery
From: Rob Sent: July 20, 2021 4:41 PM To: Victor Hafichuk Subject: Divorce and Adultery I am very concerned avout your teaching of divorce. Now, Paul said that not he but God commands that thise who are married - not those who are married in the Lord - do not divorce, but if they do, they are to remain unmarried. Paul addressed first the singletons and widows, then he addressed the married, but says his instruction is a command of God's, then he says, "Now to the REST (neither married nor unmarried) I say..." and he discusses if a man or woman has an unbelieving boyfriend or girlfriend with whom the person is in a serious emotional or sexual relationship with (fornication) in which children may be involved. The third group is being carefully catered to. These verses are for the church in Corinth, a godless city. People there would have had sexual partners and relationships as is the case today. Imagine that today I am a young woman living together with my boyfriend and am pregnant. I become a believer. Now I suddenly have a problem on my hands that I did not habe before. Paul does not command but gives an instruction that if my unbelieving boyfriend consents to live with me, we may live together (he may mean this formalizes the union), but if he doesn't (for example my being a Christian freaks him out and my behavior has changed a lot), then I am not bound to him. The fact that we have eother had sex or have had children does not bind us together. But this i...
Is RC Sproul a false teacher?
From: Marie Sent: Saturday, April 01, 2017 4:34 PM To: ask@thepathoftruth.com Subject: R.C. Sproul Hi! I have followed R.C. for more than a decade. What’s the word on him (not to be confused with his son, R.C. Jr). I have been burned more than once - MacArthur and Zacharias are 2 examples. I have grown cold on R.C. and I wonder if it’s me or him. Regards, Marie From: Paul Cohen Sent: Saturday, April 08, 2017 7:25 AM To: Marie Cc: Victor Hafichuk Subject: Re: R.C. Sproul Hi Marie, There’s essentially no difference between Sproul, MacArthur, and Zacharias. All three say some true things, but they’re also prime promoters of falsehood as part of the beastly system of religion the Word of God calls “Babylon,” the “paths of the destroyer.” “Concerning the works of men, by the Words of Your lips, I am kept from the paths of the destroyer” (Psalms 17:4 MKJV). Sproul promotes Calvin and his infernal doctrine, for example. Read about the antidote of Truth here: True Hope for Reform Church Members and All Calvin Doctrine Victims And who is Calvin, anyway? The Fruit of Cain Multiplied: The Murderer John Calvin Maybe it’s your time, Marie, to come to the Lord “outside the camp.” If so, heed His call – it’s for your life. Confused by Calvin Doctrine
From: Jennifer To: The Path of Truth Sent: Sunday, October 16, 2016 10:19 PM Subject: Fw: John MacArthur, Calvinism Hello, My name is Jennifer and I am reaching out for some help because I am confused. Last February I came across a man on youtube talking about Christianity and the word-faith movement. I started watching his videos and I contacted him for some more information. I just felt a peace when listening to him speak. His name is Justin Peters and he runs a small ministry called the Justin Peter's Ministry. He responded and we discussed election and the area of pre-destination. I became very upset because I was under the impression that there is no biblical proof of pre destination and if there is, according to Justin Peter's,  why should anyone bother if their not in the selected group? He told me as for election, it is a very deep subject but it is thoroughly biblical. He said, "It need not be anything to fear, though. Take a deep breath, it's ok." He said there is an excellent DVD on this topic entitled, Amazing Grace: A History and Theology of Calvinism. He suggested the websites of John MacArthur and Susan Heck, and for me to get a John MacArthur Bible as soon as possible. He says he has this Bible himself. He kindly recommended a doctrinally sound church in my area of Texas. I was so relieved because I felt he intercepted just in time and I didn't see John MacArthur's name on any list for false prophets of today. Then one day I saw his name thrown in...
